In early 2018, I was approached by CeaseFire PA to create a video about gun violence prevention as it relates to activism among women in the Jewish community – thanks to a grant they received from Jewish Federation of Philadelphia’s Women of Vision program. And then, just five days after I signed on to create this video, news broke about the massacre in Parkland, FL at Marjorie Stoneman High School. I wish the video was not so timely. I wish lives were not impacted by gun violence on such a regular basis. I lived this project deeply for the months of my involvement -- I felt this one “in my kishkes”. I interviewed friends, community members and even my daughter, in an intimate way that will stay with me forever. I engaged Scott Nibauer of Nibauer Pictures to shoot and create the fine cut. I am humbled and grateful to post this video!
Kitchen Classroom Cooking represents my first foray into independently directing and producing. Using an outline from author, Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer, I put together a script and imagery that drew from the book, The Kitchen Classroom. A remarkable crew worked pro-bono to make this video that celebrates the therapeutic and developmental benefits of cooking with kids with special needs.
There is a remarkable program aligns beautifully with Jewish Learning Venture's (JLV) "Whole Community Inclusion"initiative. I loved collaborating in a pro-bono capacity to write, produce, direct and edit this video to celebrate The Reta Emerson Fellowship Teen Assistant Program (TAP). Scott Nibauer of Nibauer Pictures graciously shot this. I used the editing skills I honed during COVID isolation to edit.
In 2017, CarraJoyful Productions was hired to create a video for Gratz College. What an honor and a joy to interview Dr. Rosalie Guzofsky, and learn about how Jewish education in the U.S. paralleled the growth of our nation. I felt particularly invested in this project, and was grateful to be tapped by the Gratz faculty to assist them in helping to articulate how they leveraged their rich heritage and reconceived themselves as a contemporary institution of higher learning. I wrote, produced and directed this. Scott Nibauer of SNPictures shot and edited.
